Sonoma County Library

WINDSOR REGIONAL LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD

TUESDAY, JULY 13, 2021 4:00 P.M.

Held Via Teleconference (Computer or Telephone)

1. CONVENING & INTRODUCTIONS

Present: Mike Neely, “D Graner, Branch Manager Phil Hoeft, Library Division Manager Sarah Vantrease, Town Council Liaison Esther Lemus

2. PUBLIC COMMENTS: None

3. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES OF THE PRIOR MEETING: No quorum

4. DISCUSSION ITEMS

4.1. Recruitment of new LAB members: No discussion

5. ACTION ITEMS

5.1. Election of LAB officers: Postponed

6. REPORTS & UPDATES

6.1. TOWN COUNCIL LIAISON’S REPORT: The Town is currently operating with 4 council members, civic center project currently on hold, started movie nights, Thursday Night on the Green will start soon. Staff are transitioning back in Town Hall. Town Council is meeting in person and welcomed the public back last week.

6.2. LIBRARY DIRECTOR’S REPORT: Library Commission met last night. Library branches are now open 42 hours/week, with extra hours at Central. Continuing curb side service. There are about 13,000 visitors/week now. Staff can now do outreach on a volunteer basis outside the branches at this time. Hoping to offer safe in-person programs this fall. Library passed a balanced budget. New Roseland branch is waiting for final inspections, hoping to open this summer at 470 Sebastopol Road. Erika Thibault has joined the management staff as deputy director. Current branch hours are: Monday and Tuesday noon-7 pm, Wednesday through Saturday 10 am-5 pm, plus Sunday hours at Central. Library is waiting to take delivery of a large van for countywide outreach service.

6.3. LIBRARY COMMISSIONER'S REPORT: None

6.4. BRANCH MANAGER'S REPORT: Phil has been at the branch two months and one day. Branch is fully staffed now with Teen Services Librarian Jodi Tam, Children’s Services Librarian Jennifer Ryder and two shelvers, Bryan Santiago and Rowan Corbin. A lot of people are now coming into the building. Visitor total for May was 498, June visitors totaled 2,900. Last week Windsor had over 1000 visitors. No longer quarantining returned items. Check-in is faster. Windsor Branch has turned in a Partnership Project application. Our Children’s Librarian is participating in the In-Person Planning Committee.

6.5. FRIENDS OF THE WINDSOR LIBRARY REPORT: Meeting monthly on Zoom. Opened the book cart July 5th and the first week’s income was $431.95. The July farmers’ market book sale totaled $213.86 and the Quilt Raffle income is $116 so far. We have 31 annual members for 2021 and 48 lifetime members.
