Welcome to the Takeout Book Club! (or, as the librarians are fondly referring to it, the Book Club Formerly Known as Brown Bag).

Join us on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:00 PM as we discuss a different contemporary novel or work of nonfiction.

This month we will be reading and discussing George Saunder's Lincoln in the Bardo. "From [a] sic seed of historical truth, George Saunders spins a story of familial love and loss that breaks free of its historical framework into a supernatural realm both hilarious and terrifying. Willie Lincoln finds himself in a strange purgatory where ghosts mingle, gripe, commiserate, quarrel, and enact bizarre acts of penance. Within this transitional state -- called, in the Tibetan tradition, the bardo -- a monumental struggle erupts over young Willie's soul. Lincoln in the Bardo is an astonishing feat of imagination and a bold step forward from one of the most important and influential writers of his generation."- taken from publisher

Copies of Lincoln in the Bardo are available in the branch a month prior to the discussion. Feel free to call the library or email Simone with any questions.

We will meet in the Forum Room at Central and virtually simultaneously.
