Join us for a panel discussion on lowrider culture and lowriding as a form of healing and political resistance. A special car show will be held on 4th Street during the event.

This talk was inspired by the CRUISIN’ exhibit at the Museum of Sonoma County.

Panelists:

Juan Roman: I have proudly called Sonoma County my home since 1980. As an educator, I am currently dedicated to shaping minds and nurturing futures at Skyline College and Santa Rosa Junior College. Alongside my teaching roles, I am a passionate advocate for social justice and the less fortunate, striving to make a positive impact in our community.  

David Escobar served as an Administrative Aide to former Fourth District Supervisor Steve Kinsey in the Marin County Board of Supervisors for 15 years; after 21 years of service with the County of Marin, he retired early to take on the position of Director of the Re-Entry Programs at San Quentin State Prison. As an adjunct professor, David has taught Indigenous Perspectives at Dominican University, Holy Names, and Santa Rosa Jr. College. He is currently a Doctoral Candidate completing his dissertation in anthropology, with a concentration in indigenous cosmopolitanism at the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous issues.
