Binding, Printing & Connecting: A Xicana Indigenous Perspective with Amanda Ayala

Amanda Ayala (she/ella) is a multidisciplinary Xicana Indigenous artist who paints in watercolor, gouache and acrylics, binds multimedia art books and has a community art creation practice. In this session, Amanda will share:

  • how and why she creates multimedia art books.
  • folding technique to make a mini zine.
  • how she uses block printing in her art
  • theory about artist liberation and why it’s important
  • how her indigenous work has impacted her art making process
