Binding, Printing & Connecting: Letterpress History & Practice with Andrew Mecum of North Bay Letterpress Arts
Join Executive Director Andrew Mecum for a virtual tour & demo of North Bay Letterpress Arts in action. There will be remote crowd participation to help create a print during the demo, an interesting and entertaining experience for all! The prints created will then be available at the in-person Zine Fest event on Saturday.
Andrew (he/him) has been creative since day one. Throughout school he was the “hey could you draw me something” kid. For his last two years of high school he convinced the counselor that art was visual language and replaced foreign language with additional art classes. After high school he attended SJSU, but was more interested in skateboarding and enjoying life. Eventually he moved to San Francisco and attended the Academy of Art University where he received a degree in Printmaking. He still firmly believes art is visual language, and using letterpress and text in creative ways furthers that concept.
North Bay Letterpress Arts is a center of teaching and practicing letterpress printing located in Sebastopol California. It is also an experimental commons for those who are fascinated by the graphic presence of words and images formed & printed by hand. Our shop hosts workshops, tours, exhibits, poetry readings, book launches, musical performances, movie nights and a virtual bemusement park.
