Details

Do you want to write about important events in Sonoma County history but aren't sure where to start? Explore local history through documentary poetry with Sonoma County poet laureate Dave Seter. Reflect on historical documents from the Sonoma County Archives, learn how to combine writing and research, and creatively express injustices from Sonoma County's past.

1 pm: Introductions 
1:15 pm: Documentary Poetry presentation - Dave Seter
1:35 pm: Introduction to exhibits from the Sonoma County Archives - Simone Kremkau, History & Genealogy Library
1:45 pm: Visit exhibit tables or use prompts to get inspired!
2 pm: Writing time
2:30 pm: Optional sharing of work in a safe, non-judgmental environment (30min)

Dave Seter is author of the poetry collection Don’t Sing to Me of Electric Fences, and the chapbook Somewhere West of the Mississippi. He earned his undergraduate degree in civil engineering from Princeton University and his graduate degree in humanities from Dominican University of California. He has been named Sonoma County Poet Laureate 2024-2026.
