Program Description

Details

Scott and Leah Gerber discuss their family history within Petaluma’s Jewish ranching community, accompanied by Yiddish and English folk songs and original compositions.

Scott Gerber is a longtime ranch hand and musician who shares his family history and that of Petaluma’s Jewish chicken ranching community.  His songs highlight how his family made their way from Eastern Europe to the Egg Basket of the World (Petaluma). He has been featured in several documentaries including Bonnie Bert’s “Song of a Jewish Cowboy.”

His daughter, Leah Gerber, is a musician and synagogue prayer leader. She carries the family history forward with song, singing in both Yiddish and English.  leah-gerber.com/bio
