Balance Workshop – What It Is and Its Maintenance
This workshop is part lecture and part practicum designed to introduce you to the physiological components of balance AND to teach you several ways to improve your balance skills. You do not have to participate in the activities.
However, if you would like to join the exercise practice, please plan to wear shoes that allow you to move safely. The exercises will not be strenuous, and you will have the support of a chair, but you will need to be able to stand for about 15 minutes at a time
Workshop outline:
- Balance overview – what contributes to balance when moving
- Base of support practice
- Gentle warm-up before exercise
- Critical flexibility and strength moves
- Balance challenges: weight shifting and recovery
- Balance drills
Hosted by Vicki Jackson.
