In celebration of National Poetry Month, Music Historian Lars Rosager M.A. shares research on, and modern perceptions of, Sappho, the famed musician-poet of Ancient Greece. Join this lecture event to learn more about what Sappho's life and work can teach us about the history of music and poetry.
Primary goals include sharing bibliographical sources, understanding Sappho's historical influence, and examining applications of principles of poetry in a variety of contexts.
About the Presenter: Lars Rosager was born in Santa Rosa and raised in Petaluma. Now age 35 and holding the degree Master of Arts in Music, Rosager is active throughout the Greater Bay Area as Educator and Creative Artist with particular interest in the synergies among Music, Language Arts, and Moral Philosophy. His research on the music of Renaissance-era Spain guides a wide-lens conception of music as a cross-cultural phenomenon.
