In this workshop, participants will experience an overview of Latino music history through the instruments, genres, and influences that created each country´s diverse style of music. This workshop begins by focusing on instruments and their cultural origins, then moves on to explain how the Latino concept is created by the influence of different geographic and cultural groups. The musical exploration will highlight the Mariachi-Ranchera music in Mexico, the Mambo-Son Montuno in Cuba, Merengue in Dominic Republic, Reggaeton in Puerto Rico, Cumbia in Colombia, and Salsa in the USA.
