The Asian Art Museum presents: Hidden Unions- Art of the Himalayas

Delve into the complex and fascinating spiritually inspired art from the "Land of the Snow" – the Himalayas - as illustrated by objects from the Asian Art Museum.  In this magnificent terrain Buddhism has melded with Hinduism and the indigenous folk beliefs to create truly unique religious practices and sacred art. Tankas, mandals, and mantras are cornerstones of the practices.  Dakinis, Taras, demons, and Lamas are just a few of the protective and supportive deities in this complex system.  Come learn about this remarkable art.
