Artist Series: Stacey Smigrod

About the Artist: Stacey Smigrod

Stacey Smigrod began to develop her artistic eye in the studio of her antiques jeweler father in New York.  After working as a landscape designer for many years she started to paint gardens that interested her, using photographs as her inspiration.  She later took on the challenge of portraying the world through direct observation in her landscape paintings.  Stacey eventually became interested in portraiture and she takes great joy capturing the essence of a model in using dynamic color, while paying careful attention to light and shadow.   She has studied extensively and has exhibited her work at the Marin Open Studios.
