Art Show Reception: Meet Artist Linda Kammer

 

Meet artist Linda Kammer, whose exhibit of layers of watercolor on paper with graphite paintings from the garden is displayed at the Sebastopol Regional Library from November 21, 2023 to January 18, 2024. 

About the artist:

"Cecil Collins says 'Creativity is one's relationship with life.' I have spent fifty years being married. Fifty years as a hairdresser. And a life time as an artist. Drawing, painting and scribbling. Watching, touching and tasting. Smelling. Backing up. Scratching my head. Forgiving, erasing and starting again.

Description of the art:

"I started this series in early spring with a few daffodils from the garden. I did a small watercolor on quarter sheet. And thought why does a mat have to be plain white. So I sized another piece of watercolor paper behind it as a pretend mat and colored it. Over time the paintings grew. The 'mat' became part of the painting. The flowers overtook the 'mat.' My paintings are layers of watercolor on paper. With graphite. Most are 15" X 23". Most are flowers from my garden."
