Sebastopol Regional Library is delighted to showcase Claude Smith's art, Free-Jazz in a WTF World, March 18, 2024, through April 28, 2024.

This exhibition is a fusion of writing and drawing using ordinary materials and sometimes employing collage. Much of the work has been inspired by music, particularly free-jazz.

Claude Smith has been a working/exhibiting artist for over six decades. In the past four years he has done a deep dive into the world of Free-Jazz music and has generated hundreds of pieces inspired by the compositions and improvisations of Cecil Taylor, Eric Dolphy, Sun Ra, Coltrane and more.
The twenty seven pieces in this 2024 exhibition are representative of Free-Jazz in a WTF World.  Smith maintains a studio in Graton California where he draws, paints and mentors students.

The public is welcome to meet the artist, enjoy a poetry reading by Jack Crimmins, and savor refreshments Saturday, April 27, 2024 from 3:30-5:30pm.
