Art Show: The Soul of Things

Sebastopol Library is delighted to showcase The Soul of Things, from July 22, 2025 through September 6, 2025, by local artist William Cutler. The community is welcome to meet the artist and enjoy refreshments Sunday, August 10, 2025 at 2pm. 

From the Author

It is my quest in painting to create a beautiful, three-dimensional image with light and shadow as its premise. Through the thoughtful use of pigment, brush, and spatula, there is no object, person or place that cannot be exquisitely rendered on canvas. In the spirit of the Trompe L'Oiel tradition, I honor the soul of things by painting common objects with luminous depth, as if they could be picked up off the canvas and held in the hand. To the integrity of the old masters, the inherent truth in technique, and to the patient awareness of things as they are, I dedicate my life. - William Cutler
