Any person may access and comment during the meeting by doing the following:
PUBLIC COMMENT
Public comment may be submitted in writing prior to the meeting or orally during the meeting.
- Electronic Writing – Written comments may be submitted via email to commissioncomments@sonomalibrary.org. Put the agenda item number, if known, in the subject line of the email. Email comments must be received at least one (1) hour prior to the start of the meeting.
- U.S. Mail – Written comments may be submitted via U.S. mail to ATTN: Commission Comments, 6135 State Farm Drive, Rohnert Park, CA 94928. It is advised you consider normal delays in mail delivery when sending your written comment via U.S. mail.
- Orally, Live – Oral comments may be given during the meeting. When the Chair of the Library Commission calls for public comments for the agenda item you wish to comment on, please raise your hand and wait for the Chair to acknowledge you. Once the Chair has acknowledged you, you may give your comment. Individual speakers will usually be invited to speak for up to three minutes, depending on the number of requests received. The exact time allotted to each speaker will be announced by the Chair at the beginning of each public comments session. Speakers will be prioritized on a first-come-first-served basis. Failure to comply with this and other instructions may result in removal from the meeting without the ability to rejoin.

- What is the purpose and role of the LAB and its members? What is the role of the Commissioners?
- What works, what doesn’t work?
- Should we create a shared vision and mission for all of the
- LABs? Recommendation: create a mission statement that could be included in bylaws
- What is LAB role in advocacy? In political activism?
- What is the LAB role in advocating to library administration?
- Are LABs still useful and relevant?
- How are LABs/individual LAB members recruiting/attracting adult, teen, and Spanish-speaking LAB members?
- What works, what doesn’t work?
- How are LABs/individual LAB members gathering community input or conducting outreach?
- What are some best practices?
- How can the LABs work more effectively, and communicate better with library commissioners, library administration, staff, and legislators?
- Should we have a bylaws template, or at least some consistency in bylaws across all LABs?
- How can the LABs have a greater impact in the community and library?
- Training/onboarding for new LAB members
- Creating a list of other organizations that LAB members are involved in
- Youth members having their own small group meetings
- Quarterly LAB Chair meetings, like the FFPC
