About the Artist: Kristin Thureson
I have been interested in creative arts most of my life, but in 2019 I took a week-long collage workshop in Santa Fe and became captivated. That is when I seriously began exploring the type of art I wanted to make. Since then I have studied with many artists whom I admire. My passion now is mixed-media painting using various mediums. My art has been shown at the Sebastopol Center for the Arts, Santa Rosa Arts Center, and Aqus Cafe in Petaluma.
My aim is to bring smiles to those who view my art or create with me. My teaching style is one of sharing knowledge and encouragement and to create a fun environment for everyone. I believe we are all creative in our own way and everyone is an artist. One of my favorite things is to see someone who has no experience with art and light up as they express themselves and bring something into existence that wasn’t there before. I have taught workshops for corporate team-building events, Ronald McDonald House and various other groups.
My artistic style is bright and bold, using both abstract and figurative subjects, such as flowers and landscapes informed by the beautiful scenery of Sonoma County. I also love to explore different processes and other art forms different than what I use and make.
