Magi Fedorka is part of Sonoma County history. In 1987 Magi drafted the first resolution to proclaim Sonoma County PRIDE. For five years, Magi, the LGBTQI+ community along with allies worked toward passage of a resolution by the County Board of Supervisors to proclaim PRIDE week. In 1990 she proclaimed PRIDE on behalf of the community at the County Board meeting. It received three votes and passed in 1992. Given her visibility, Magi with the support of friends and allies and advisement of the Santa Rosa Polic Department was able to navigate the harassing calls, threats of harm, bashed car windows and other scary experiences along with ongoing microaggressions at work.

Magi Fedorka teaches at Santa Rosa Junior College and Mendocino College. She developed curriculum for LGBTQI+ health awareness in the nursing program. She is a consultant to SRJC’s Lifelong Learning instructor Tina Dungan for the LGBTQIA+ Timeline class. The Timeline panels have been displayed at PRIDE, Sonoma County Libraires, SRJC Library, Sonoma State University and in 2024 at the Sonoma County Fair. Magi continues to be a public speaker for Sonoma County libraries, Human Rights Commission, high school, Sonoma State University and other organizations.

Tina Dungan, Magi Fedorka and Adam Richmond are founders of LGBTQI+ Legacy Sonoma County which is archiving We the People issues in the library and continue uncovering Sonoma County stories and making them accessible to the public.
